My Experience

Hello, I’m Jill Gully and I am the founder of Gully College Consulting, which is based in Los Angeles, CA. Over the past 26 years, I’ve helped thousands of students and families cut through the noise to navigate the college admission process and its demands. My broader goals are to inspire self-discovery, foster accountability, and help each student stretch themselves in ways that are manageable, age-appropriate, and authentic.

Before starting my college consulting practice in 2022, I spent 24 years working in college admissions and school-based college counseling. During that time, I reviewed 40,000+ applications, visited hundreds of high schools and colleges in the U.S. and abroad, individually counseled over 400 students, and learned to navigate the ever-changing admission landscape. It was extremely rewarding to participate in students’ day-to-day lives and to celebrate their many accomplishments, including admission to a myriad of best-fit colleges and universities. The most satisfying outcomes were celebrated by students whose process included self-reflection, careful planning, a balanced college list, accountability, and a commitment to wellness.

When I transitioned from school-based counseling to establish my own practice, my main objective was to infuse more joy into a process. It presents an opportunity for students to explore themselves, take ownership of their path, and develop crucial life skills essential for college readiness and the independence it offers.
